Local tennis players are encouraged to clean their closets and remove unused and unwanted tennis clothing. For the next month, the USTA Eastern Long Island Region will be collecting new and gently-used tennis clothing to help athletes in need.

The new community service initiative will take place until Wednesday, Feb. 15. Most Nassau and Suffolk tennis clubs will be setting up on-site locations to collect donations of new and gently used tennis clothing to be given to tennis players in need. All donations will be given to tennis players from the Shinnecock Indian Nation and the Community School in Westbury operated by United Way of Long Island.

Any gently used tennis attire for men, women and kids, in all sizes, is welcomed, as is new clothing.

The following clubs will be setting up collection sites:

Nassau County
Bethpage State Park Tennis Center, Farmingdale; Boys & Girls Club of Oyster Bay-East Norwich; Carefree Racquet Club, Merrick; Glen Head Racquet; Hempstead Lake Indoor Tennis, West Hempstead; Hicksville Community Tennis; Jericho Westbury Indoor Tennis, Jericho; Long Beach Tennis Center; Point Set Racquet Club, Oceanside; Port Washington Tennis Academy; Robbie Wagner Tennis Center, Glen Cove; Rockville Racquet, Rockville Centre; Sportime Lynbrook; Sportime Massapequa; and Top Spin Tennis & Fitness, Syosset.

Suffolk County
