The USTA Eastern Long Island Region has had a busy start to the fall season, giving 10-and-under lessons to hundreds of kids attending several street fairs around town. The Region brought its 10-and-under courts, balls, racquets and other equipment to the Merrick Fair, Bellmore Family Street Festival and Town of Hempstead Family Festival by the Sea, and introduced participants to the sport of a lifetime. Many of the children signed up for their free USTA 10-and-under memberships.

Melanie Rubin, community events chair for the USTA Eastern Long Island Region volunteer board of directors, worked with local clubs and their pros as well as high school students and other volunteers to make the Region’s presence at the fairs fun for all the participants. Thanks to everyone who helped make the LI Region’s efforts so successful. Special thanks to Carefree Racquet Club and Long Beach Tennis Center for making sure that there were plenty of pros on hand to teach the tennis newcomers.  Click here for more information on USTA 10-and-under tennis and to sign up for a free membership.
