Very Few Play Through as Winterlike Weather Impacts Nassau HS Boys Schedule

On a day when many matches on Long Island were cancelled due to the weather, there were still a valiant few who fought through and played on yesterday in boys high school tennis action. Yesterday's weather on Long Island ran the gamut, as there was rain, then frigid temps, then snow, and finally, sun and temperatures neared the 50s.

In Conference II-A, Oceanside High School celebrated the sun's arrival by defeating North Shore 4-3 in a closely contested match. Jake Cohen and Mitchell Plesser were victorious in singles matches for Oceanside. The team of Jake Yardeni & Jason Denrich prevailed at third doubles, 7-5, 6-3, while the team of Jeff Wiener & Timmy Cecere won 6-1, 7-5 at fourth doubles. 

In Conference I, the Syosset Braves won on the road at Roslyn 6-1. Riki Ishikawa & Austin Ash defeated Jermey Kaplan & Eric Irom 6-0, 2-6, 6-1 in first doubles to lead the Braves.

In Conference III-A  action, it was Mepham who defeated Carle Place 5-2 in a home match.
