It was a dominating performance by the Commack High School Girls Tennis team, as they were victorious over the Ross School 7-0 in a Monday afternoon match at Commack. The Commack girls are now 5-2 on the season, and will face off against a tough Half Hollow Hills West team on Tuesday at Commack.

The windy conditions didn’t affect the Commack girls play, as they defended their home court. All singles and doubles teams won in straight sets over their opponents.

In first singles, seventh grader, Kim Liao defeated the Ross School’s Amanda Mintz, 6-1, 6-0. Second singles player Dara Danzinger defeated Rory Gallagher 6-3, 6-2, while in third singles, Amanda Imamorato defeated Hannah Gallagher 6-2, 6-1. In fourth singles, Julia Kinelis defeated Sophie Casey 6-1, 6-0.

In the doubles matches, the first doubles team of Jackie Guidice & Amanda Cave was dominant in their win over Ross School’s Daisy Gallagher & Zoe Yektai 6-1, 6-2. Izzy Ostrowski & Alexa Corben teamed up in second doubles and defeated Kendall Scala & Kanami Mikami 6-1, 6-1. In the final match of the day, the third doubles team of Shelly Gupta & Emma Matz defeated Laila Murphy & Livia Azevedo 6-2, 6-0.

“We have a great team and a lot of depth on our team,” said Commack's first-year Head Coach Jackie Clark. “We are working hard this season to improve our skills, and are up for the challenge of facing any team.”

Clark added that her team was chasing Half Hollow Hills East in the standings, who is a perfect 7-0 in conference play.

“We’ve already been beaten by them twice already, and Hills East is definitely the team to beat in our league.”
