Great Neck South Edges Wheatley in Conference I-A

The Rebels of Great Neck South snapped a two-match losing streak on Thursday afternoon, getting past the Wheatley Wildcats 4-3. The deciding match came at third singles, as Great Neck South’s Eric Rofe notched a 5-7, 6-4, 7-6(7-2) to seal the victory for the Rebels.

The win moves Great Neck South to 6-5 on the season while Wheatley falls to 1-7.

In Conference I-B, Port Washington continued rolling, beating Plainview JFK 5-2 for its ninth win in 10 tries. The Vikings were led by the first doubles tandem of T.J. Serignese & Yuki Yoshinaga, who defeated Zachary Gorfinkel & Mitch Birns 6-1, 6-1 to pace Port Washington.

Sophomore Austin Egna remained undefeated in singles play on the season, edging out Plainview’s Jun Min Lee.

Port Washington improves to 10-2 on the year. Plainview JFK drops to 7-6.
