The Oceanside Sailors snapped a two-match losing streak on Wednesday afternoon, edging Bellmore JFK 4-3 in a Conference II-B showdown to improve to 6-2 on the season.

This match played out nearly the same as the first match of the year between these two. Bellmore JFK’s singles play once again came away with three victories, meaning Oceanside needed to win all four doubles flights to come out with the victory.

The Sailors did just that, winning all four of the doubles contests, highlighted by the fourth doubles tandem of Ryan Kane and Andrew Hawk. The duo lost the opening set before coming back to notch the 4-6, 7-5, 6-3 win to clinch the Oceanside win.

Massapequa won its second straight match with a 4-3 triumph over Valley Stream Central. The match came down to a thrilling second singles contest, as Massapequa’s Matthew Waterhouse hung on to beat Brandon Lee of Valley Stream Central 7-6(1), 6-7(5), 10-8 in a super tiebreaker to seal the deal for the Chiefs. Andrew Walsh and Alexandre Meirhaeghe chipped in with a 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 win over Mario Birch and Justin Lazar at first doubles.

The Carle Place Frogs snapped a two-match losing streak with a hard-fought 4-3 win over Oyster Bay on Wednesday. Giancarlo Cavallero continued his excellent season with a straight set win at first singles, but Oyster Bay responded with wins at second and third singles from Alex Gelabert and Jed Kaiser, respectively.

After Carle Place evened things up with wins at second and fourth doubles, the match came down to the third doubles flight. Brian Erker and Chris Martinovic clinched the Carle Place victory with a straight set win over Oyster Bay’s Anthony Trivic and Nick Rimeraz.

In Conference I, Syosset stayed perfect on the season with a 7-0 win over Jericho, improving to 8-0 in league play and 9-0 overall. The first doubles tandem of Spencer Lowitt and Preet Rajpal led the way for Syosset, beating Spencer Levy and Matt Masheb 6-3, 6-7(6), 10-4.

Also in Conference I, Plainview JFK got past Port Washington 4-3 thanks to Jared Phillips’ triumph at third singles.

The Lynbrook Owls won for the second time in three matches, beating Bethpage 4-3. The four Lynbrook wins all came in straight sets as Ben Tetelman beat Matt Heym 6-2, 6-4 at first singles, Azam Hussain beat Adam Guarino 7-5, 6-3 at second singles, Matt Moreida defeated Adrei Aziz at third singles and Zack Leder and Darren Chiu beat Jaren Hausknecht and Matt Sikoryak 6-1, 6-2 at third doubles.
