Adelphi sophomore Matteo Cannavera won the Northeast-10 Player of the Year for the second straight year, the conference announced on Wednesday.

Last season, Cannavera won both the Rookie of the Year and Player of the Year honors in his freshman campaign, and followed that up with a spectacular sophomore season in 2016. The Italy native went undefeated in the No. 1 singles flight in conference play this year, the second straight season he has done so.

Cannevera helped lead Adelphi to a 9-7 overall record and 8-2 record in conference play.

Three of Cannevera’s teammates were also honored by the conference on Wednesday. Senior Sander Brenner, who played his high school tennis for Port Washington, made the all-NE-10 second team in the third singles slot.

Belarusian Uladzislau Litvinchuk made the third team in the second singles position while Roey Heymann, who played his high school tennis at Plainview JFK, made the third team in the fourth singles spot.
