
The New York Sportimes saw their very successful season come to a close on Sunday evening as they fell in a tight final to the Kansas City Explorers in a match that was played at Explorers Stadium at Barney Allis Plaza in Kansas City, Mo. The Sportimes held an early lead before falling 21-18. The Explorers are now the proud owner of the King Trophy as 2010 World TeamTennis Champions.
The Sportimes who won the Eastern Division Title finish the season with a 10-6 overall record, including the playoffs. Along with winning the Eastern Division Title the Sportimes also brought high quality professional tennis to the new York area for the month of July which should have all NY fans excited for the upcoming US Open in late August.
The Sportimes roster consisted of John McEnroe, Kim Clijsters, Ashley Harkelroad, Abigail Spears, Jesse Witten and Robert Kendrick. In addition to that talent, Andy Roddick, Martina Hingis and James Blake all made appearances at Sportime Stadium at Randalls Island this summer.
