The Western & Southern Open resumed at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Queens with Naomi Osaka and Victoria Azarenka winning their respective semifinal matches on Friday afternoon.

Osaka knocked off 14th seed Elise Mertens of Belgium 6-2, 7-6(5), saving 18 break points in the process to reach her first Western & Southern Open final.

“For me, it’s been a little bit stressful,” Osaka told reporters. “I couldn’t really sleep last night so I am glad I was able to play at a pretty good level…I am really glad I didn’t mentally collapse. I was down a break in the second and down in the tiebreak too, so I am really glad I didn’t dip. This is my first tournament back

In the day’s second semifinal, Victoria Azarenka came back from a set down to defeat Johanna Konta 4-6, 6-4, 6-1.

The final will be played on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. inside Louis Armstrong Stadium.
