Tip of the Week: Keep it Simple

The more advanced the player, the more complicated our strategy seems to get.

Sometimes you have to go backward to go forward.  Return to the basic ideas that allowed you to improve to your current level-watch the ball, move your feet, follow through consistently, use crosscourts to set up down the line, lots of first serves in play, and hit the return of serve early and solid.

These all seem simple, but it is extremely easy to get away from these ideas when you are trying to win a match.  Pick one of the thoughts mentioned and try to focus on just that.  When you feel you are doing it well, move on to another.

Don’t be afraid to go backward to get back on track!
