Long Island High School Weekend Recap: Monday, May 6

High School tennis’ regular season is coming to a close soon on Long Island, with the last round of matches being played last week and this coming week.

Earlier last week, William Floyd edged Eastport South Manor 4-3 to improve to 9-3 on the season in Suffolk County’s League VIII.

Danny Cohen and Ethan Sims notched a 6-7(6), 6-1, 7-5 victory over Conner Chen and Kourosh Moghaddassi in the fourth doubles flight to lead Roslyn to a 4-3 victory over Syosset in a crucial Nassau County Conference I matchup. The Bulldogs improve to 11-0 on the year.

Plainview JFK held off Great Neck North in the deciding fourth doubles match as Ethan Bloom and Tyler Burd won 6-3, 7-5 over Victor Chen and Jake Kimiabasksh to clinch the Hawks’ 4-3 team win.

Massapequa beat Farmingdale 4-0 in a match that was shortened due to rain. Joseph Adesso and Jonathan Lerman came up big with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Nick Rose and Cole Hecker in the third doubles spot to clinch the Chiefs’ victory.

Port Washington got victories from all four of its doubles pairings, including a 6-1, 6-3 win by Rajen Parekh and Samuel Schaub at fourth doubles, in a 5-2 triumph over Hewlett.
