Nassau County Playoffs Get Underway

The playoff season on Long Island began on Thursday afternoon, with the first-round matchups in Nassau County being played.

Third-seed Syosset defeated Mepham 7-0, as Caroline Lee hung on to win 6-3, 1-6, 10-7 at first singles.

The defending county champions move into a quarterfinal matchup against sixth-seed Roslyn, who defeated Lynbrook 7-0. The Bulldogs got wins from Anika Tolat, Sarah Faber and Angelina Remnek at first, second and third singles, respectively, to lead the way.

Jericho won all four doubles flights, including a 7-5, 2-6, 6-4 win from Morgan Adise and Saipranati Kethireddy at third doubles, to edge Wheatley 4-3. Jericho now moves into a matchup against top-seed Port Washington for a spot in the semifinals.

Cold Spring Harbor swept Herricks 7-0 to advance to the next round, where it awaits the winner of Glen Cove/Hicksville versus Hewlett.
