Last month, the 55+ Men’s 8.0 team representing the USTA Eastern Section and playing out of Sportime Kings Park participated in the 2022 USTA Nationals in Orlando, Florida. Led by team captains Russ DeFazio and Owen Kassimir, the team would finish with a 2-2 record after it’s two-day, four-match schedule.

As a result, the Sportime Kings Park squad finished in seventh place out of the 16 competing teams.

“This was the first trip to the Nationals for myself and most of the guys on the team,” said Bruce Moodnik. “We all had a great time playing and meeting players from all over the country. What I’ll take away most from this experience is the way this team supported each other and more importantly bonded with each other both on and off the court”

The team’s motto throughout the Nationals was, “Let’s Do This!!!”, with the mantra written on the team’s uniform. The whole team had a wonderful experience representing Long Island and the Eastern Section at Nationals.

Moodnik added:

“I hope to have the chance to do this again with this group of guys.”
